Winners go harder
Hello good morning
I woke up this morning a little refreshed. Not just physically (cos I still managed to sleep for only a couple hours) but emotionally too (I have been more than a little worried with some personal and business issues). I woke up and said a prayer, then went online. First post I saw was from Diddy "Woke up feeling like I need to go harder". Now let's picture Diddy saying that. This is a black successful business mogul who grew his business from down, up. One we all love to admire and aspire to emulate....& yet he says he "needs" to go harder. How can I (I should say we) be satisfied with a few taps on the back saying well done? It's time to realise that ALL we have done is in the past, and look to go full throttle on the next spin.
I spent a couple days out of town this weekend past, and would continue to marvel at the experience I get from a trip to Lagos. From a four hour taxi ride from the airport to the hotel....the fact that a hotel which cost almost 100,000 for an average room would be fully booked (which people de stay all the rooms sef)....& people buying 15 bottles of Dom Perignon at 5:30am in the morning. Lagos people too like enjoyment. There's a lot of money in that town. Infact, we were reading about the Lagos economic growth and I'd suggest you just google it yourself to know more. You'd be amazed at the results of what you read.
These observations bring me to my focal point. Would you rather be a lion in the jungle, or a dog in the city? Why would you leave a successful job/business in Lagos and move to New York chasing the American Dream, when one of the richer black businessmen in New York feels he needs to go harder? Are there any guarantees you'll be more successful after emigrating, with all the challenges you know nothing about at the moment? I believe most Nigerians looking to run abroad at the first opportunity have no idea how much potential there is for growth in this country. My only advice is, take your time to look before you leap. There might be an opportunity right where you're standing....don't be like the man who buys a land blessed with oil, and decides to build a mansion on top.
Well, before I leave I have to talk about two events that brought me joy this weekend (and one that set alarm bells ringing too).
Tiger Woods is the darling of the USA again....first tournament win in five years, and a comeback story straight outta Hollywood. Congrats champ, from the mammoth crowd that accompanied him on his victory walk you can tell the love never went away.
Another bout, another victory and a show of ultimate power..... Anthony Joshua is definitely ruling the heavyweight division. A lot of people still doubt him (for not fighting people they want him to like Deontay) , or find ways to water down his victories by making reference to his opponents disadvantages (Povetkin was past his prime) but there's a reason he's such a badass...go on YouTube and knock yourself out with his highlight reel.
Finally, celebrity power is definitely catching up in Nigeria. Is Davido running for Governor of Osun state? The young man has really been an influential figure in the scheme of things, and you'd be sure that a lot of others would look to his antics and follow suit when the general elections come aboard. Watch out for the trend, election year is about to be a carnival.... if it brings an end to thuggery, it might be smarter to pay an artist millions and have the electorate warm up to you than paying people to steal ballot boxes.
The day beckons....I wish you all the best. Cheers🍷
