Synergy.... Together, we are greater than just the sum of our parts. That's what your average partnership should represent.
Let me make an example....man marries woman. That's a union of only two people, but working together they can be much more than just two people. They could have kids. Bring their in-laws into the family fold. Hell, they could have a party for "family only" and have 30 people in the building (legit). This example is not a stereotype though, and could easily lead in another direction.
What if it was business? How do business partners strike the right chord with the selection process..... how do you decide the right people to work with? A lot of business associations are doomed to hit a brick wall, because the elements required to bring the business ideas to life are lacking from one or both partner(s). Get it right though, and you'd realise that put together a strong team is more than just the sum of its parts.
We own a PR company. How did we get started? From beer parlor gists oh! We were talking, and my friend says "I like the way you talk. Your ideas make a lot of sense. I would see if I can put something together for your presentation". And my word, when I saw what he "put together", I was like ...."Bro, you have to come with me for this meeting". That was five years ago. In the middle of all our challenges, we have veered off course once or twice. Trying to raise alternate sources of income. Gaining more experience from brands we admired. And then we remembered what made us stand out, in the first place. We are not just any two friends trying to make money. We are PR. And so back to the "Kitchen" we went, and in less than a considerable amount of time we were back on our feet...and definitely on our way to the top.
Choose wisely....you don't suddenly have the best soccer team, if you buy eleven of the best goalkeepers in the world.
