Knowledge is Experience
Experience ....is the knowledge or mastery of an event, or subject gained through involvement in or exposure to it.
You might wonder what the little English lesson was about, but as you read along you'd get a clearer picture. A lot of people talk about stuff they know nothing about, and even spend hours arguing based on what they heard from a third party (them say, them say). Why waste all of that time and saliva? What if the story you heard was false all along? Last night, we overheard some guys arguing about football at the pub ...& my friend pointed out that "football is the only thing people should argue about, because there are facts to back it up easy". How can you tell me my opinion on any subject is wrong, simply because you don't agree with me?
When we first started discussing names/ideas for our club, a lot of people said "if you don't do it this way, you'll not succeed". Now, I realised that they were simply telling us to follow the stereotype (for other clubs in Benin) and not even attempt to do things differently cos' it simply won't work. Now, let's think about it objectively....are ALL the clubs following that example, successful? NO. Is there any example of someone who tried it our way, and failed? NO. So why do you think we would fail, if we followed our instincts? There and then, we decided to prove them wrong...it didn't take much longer to decide on a name. PROOF.
Next, we began to brainstorm on a slogan. A lot of nightclubs these days, they want to show you how much of a good time they're having. Pictures of people buying (and sometimes wasting) drinks. Girls dancing. People smoking. All in an attempt to "prove" that this is a spot to have a swell time. Firsthand, I know that a lot of customers are not comfortable with these photos and I have been to clubs (very successful ones) that had no photographers. No videos. If you aren't in the building, you have no idea what went down. You'd have to experience it, to have a story to tell...."A proof of PROOF is experience". I sincerely hope y'all ready to experience this, cos' it's just weeks to D-day. Be prepared.
Still talking experience....when we first started having parties, especially when we developed #TheMansion, there were a lot of things we didn't get right. We even lost money once, and had to backtrack. Go and plug leaks. I tell you here and now, if you aren't learning from every experience.... you're making a MISTAKE. Fortunately, we are smart enough to have learnt a little more and for those who attended the "Chicken & Beer" Underground party this Tuesday last, you'll admit we had a GREAT time. I look forward in anticipation to the next edition. See you there.
Finally....it's the grand Finale' of Attitude 💯 tonight. I'm gonna be there live cheering the winner of the prize, and sipping some Jameson again (what's your favourite drink?).
