Happy People Win

Written by Michael Obiomah

Good morning..... I'm gonna be a little sober today.

I was going to give this slot out (yes, sometimes we allow other writers on the blog), but I had a reason to write this myself. So please indulge me. This is kinda in response to messages I received, from yesterday's story. I tried to raise some drooping heads yesterday with a feel good message, and judging by the responses I got....there are a lot of unhappy people out there.

First of all, let me be very clear. It NEVER gets any easier. There's always gonna be somethings weighing you down. Life's all about challenges,so don't think the problems you have will kill you. I will give you an exercise right now. Take a pen and paper, and write down ALL the things disturbing you now {take 10 minutes and do that}. Then keep that paper in some corner you wouldn't visit in about three (3) months....when next you see that piece of paper, you'd still have problems but I'm not sure they'd be the ones on that list. I'm sure you're thinking now about stuff that have troubled you in the past, and how they now seem to be so trivial ....right?

Secondly, think about the fact that your heart is programmed to love...by your brain. You consciously tell your heart whom to love. What to love. I don't believe in love at first sight (it would take some convincing to even have me believe in love at all),but I know that over time you can condition your heart to 'love' someone/ something. Someone would tell you now,"I love my wife. She's a homemaker. She speaks very well. Has a PhD in Maths...& so many things". Did he see that in her the first second he saw her? Nope. He saw a pretty face. Breasts. Nice hips. It was probably over a period of time, these feelings grew and they spent all that time together developing their love for one another.

I believe there's only one true love, the love for self (and yet people commit suicide) and even the wisest man who ever lived JESUS CHRIST said "Love your neighbor as yourself" and the world would be at peace. A close second, is the love between a mother and child (some Mama still de kill their pikin oh!).

Michael Corleone was hit by lightning when he saw Apollonia, and loved her until he dies....yet he got remarried and had two kids. Jack died with the Titanic for his lover, and she was telling the story to her granddaughter. Princess Jasmine saw Aladdin and was ready to give up her kingdom for the street rat....these only happen in movies and cartoons.

In the real world, we can't pursue happiness. It's in us all the time. You just have to bring it to the fore....all the time. The Esama of Benin once said "you can't separate me from my money. We are ONE". That's how it is with me,and my HAPPINESS. I hope this meets you in good cheer.

Have a good morning ☕
